Nolan Patterson

As a self-taught artist based in Tucson, I grew up in a creative family and was always drawn to art. I would spend hours drawing and painting, and that passion has continued to grow throughout my life.

My art is inspired by my subconscious mind and other artists from cartoonists to neo expressionism painters like Basquiat and Phillip Guston. I work primarily in acrylic and mixed media, and my style is known for its vibrant colors and intricate details. I love exploring the endless possibilities of mixing various media and textures to create dynamic and visually stimulating abstract compositions that convey a sense of raw emotion and energy. I like to experiment with mixing various media and textures to create dynamic and multidimensional compositions. I often begin with a base layer of acrylic paint, and then incorporate other materials like pastels, charcoal, or colored pencils to build up the surface and add depth. My aim is to create work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant, using a combination of media and color to capture the essence of the subject or idea

I have had the honor of exhibiting my work in &gallery on 4th Avenue and walls throughout the city and have received recognition from publications like The Daily Wildcat and KGUN9 news. My future goals include expanding my portfolio to include larger-scale works and collaborating with other artists on exciting projects.

Outside of my art practice, I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature. I’m also an avid reader and love exploring other forms of art like photography, music and theater.
